Tous sur la banquise

Info
“Tous sur la banquise” (“Everyone on the Ice Floe”) is dedicated to the life of emperor penguins and climate change, which threatens their existence—and ultimately ours as well. Based on the unique social behavior of these animals, we examine our own society and its structures: among the penguins, we search for a humanity that seems to be becoming increasingly rare in our time. They reflect what defines us as human beings—and what we may be voluntarily giving up.
The piece combines dance, music, language, and scenography. It moves within a field of tension between the concrete representation of the animals’ lives on one hand and an abstract interpretation through movement, text, and sound on the other. This creates a broad space for interpretation in which the question arises of how the human body confronts the challenges of our present time.
