With buckets, brooms and mops, an apparent cleaning crew leads the audience through Stuttgart: “Re:Memory – Wenn die Zukunft sich erinnert” is an interactive theatre walk by theaterneuland that makes audible three sites with suppressed history – Karlsplatz, the former bunker at Marktplatz, and the Schwabenzentrum, where the Vereinigte Hüttenwerke with its subculture scene stood until the 1970s. All three were also queer meeting points in Stuttgart’s city centre. Rather than a museum-like retrospective, the piece combines performance, object and sound and asks: How should these places sound in the future?
