On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, two online events organized by FTTS will take place, either at 11:00 AM or at 4:00 PM. We will provide early information about the current status of the planned decentralized venue concept as a cooperation with numerous Stuttgart theaters. The aim is to inform you about the model before the application deadline for project funding from the Dance and Theater Department in October 2026, so that you can take this into account when searching for venues and submitting applications.

Background

 

There is still no dedicated performance venue for the independent dance and theater scene in Stuttgart. The lack of performance and rehearsal spaces leads to regular postponements of productions despite secured funding. Funds that were available to FTTS for searching for a possible venue and temporarily renting rehearsal and performance spaces have expired.

Despite initial resolutions and a completed concept study on using the former department store on Eberhardstraße as a performance venue for Stuttgart’s independent dance and theater scene in an anchor use with the House of Cultures, there currently appears to be no political majority for this project.

We are currently in discussions with politicians, administration, and theaters as well as performance venues, and are discussing joint space solution models.
